A few weeks ago, I received a call at about 5:00
p.m. on a Friday night from one of the sales persons at Ralph Lauren (Biltmore Fashion Park).
She told me that she'd just sold a Ralph Lauren Black Label
leather jacket to a client only to discover that there was a blue
ink mark on one of the sleeves.
She also informed me that they only had one jacket in that size
in stock, that her client was leaving town on the Sunday, and
wanted to take the jacket with her.
I explained that one of the two most difficult stains on leather
or suede is ink (the other being protein stains), but that we'd
make every effort to assist her.
One hour later one of our drivers picked up the jacket from
Ralph Lauren and was on his way back to our fabricare facility. In
the meantime, I arranged for one of our skilled stain removal
technicians to meet me early Saturday morning so that we could
analyze, treat and, hopefully, remove the stain.
We started at 6:00 a.m. and by 11:00 a.m. the
jacket had been returned to Ralph Lauren. Ink stain removed. Color
intact. Beautifully pressed.
If this story sounds extraordinary, it's not.
