U Men is an upscale lifestyle magazine
(over 2 million subscribers) targeting career-minded men all over
the Middle East.
Page through any issue of U Men and you'll find that it's very
similar in content and style to GQ Magazine (by the way, GQ only
has 750,000 subscribers).
Every month U Men publishes a one or two page Q and A column on
men's fashion and style hosted by celebrity fashion stylist Remy
Toh.
In the December 2010 issue, Remy introduced RAVE FabriCARE to U
Men's readers via his Q and A column.
Here's the question:
"I have many made-to-measure couture suits, shirts and
trousers. However, some of which were ruined by my local dry
cleaner. I know I should have stopped going there at the first sign
of damage, but I thought
after mentioning the problem it would be rectified. Unfortunately,
when my favorite suit took a hit, I said,
"Basta!" What criteria should I
seek in a dry cleaner to maintain my fabulous
wardrobe?"
And here's his answer:
"...For couture clothing you'll need to find the highest quality
dry cleaner, even if it means shipping your clothes to another town
or country. Believe it or not, I have clients who do this
regularly. The first time their garments were damaged the cleaners
would never accept the responsibility and tried to put the blame
elsewhere.
To avoid headaches look for a dry cleaner that is recognized by
authoritative third parties and that services upscale department
stores and boutiques, whose employees are skilled technicians, and
well-versed in caring for designer garments.
In addition to this you should seek out a facility that uses
state-of-the-art equipment designed to handle such clothing and
uses gentle, dermatologically-friendly, non-dye-stripping dry
cleaning fluids and wet cleaning detergents.
This ideal facility will always hand iron your fine garments and
never machine press them. Your whites, creams and pastels will
remain spectacularly bright and your colors will stay rich and
lustrous without that washed out, faded look. This will prevent
garments from coming back shiny, over-pressed and showing wear from
being treated with harsh chemicals. Or, worse yet, still showing
soil on the collars and cuffs. From my own experience,
that's why I faithfully send my designer garments to
RAVE FabriCARE, a full service fabric care specialist based in
Scottsdale, Arizona and recognized as one of the USA's premier dry
cleaners. (italics added)"
By the way, make sure to look for Remy's new coffee table book
on how to discover, create and build a men's personal fashion
style. The book, Legends Of Style, is due out in early 2011.
How can I help you?
