97% of dry cleaners clean
in
perchloroethylene (aka perc) or synthetic petroleum. Since
2001, RAVE FabriCARE has been cleaning fine garments and household
textiles in siloxane. We love siloxane (aka
Green Earth) for three primary reasons:
- Siloxane is great for your garments and household
textiles
Siloxane fluid is fabric
gentle. It's non-dye stripping and won't "bleed" or "fade" your
colors. It's odorless. And it's sizing and fragrance free.
That means that your whites,
creams and pastels will be brilliantly bright. Your colors intense
and vibrant. All with the softest, silkiest feel. And zero solvent
or fragrance odor.
- Siloxane is great for the environment
Siloxane contains no hazardous
chemicals. None.
That means that, unlike perc
or synthetic petroleum, there's nothing to dirty the air,
contaminate the soil, or pollute the water.
Many cleaners tout their
solvent as "environmentally friendly", a rather ambiguous term.
Siloxane is for more than just "environmentally friendly". Unlike
perc or synthetic petroleum, siloxane can be safely disposed of.
It's much more than just "environmentally friendly" (whatever that
ambiguous phrase means). It's environmentally benign. If released
into the environment, it merely breaks down into its three natural
components: silica and trace amounts of water and carbon
dioxide.
Siloxane is great for you.
Siloxane is dermatologically
friendly, even for those who are chemically sensitive. It's so safe
you can wash your hands or face in our siloxane dry cleaning
fluid!
But don't take my word for it.
Take California's words.
No state in the USA has higher
standards for health safety, work place safety and environmental
safety than California.
In 2008, after an exhaustive
18 month review of all the safety issues involved, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) declared
siloxane to be safe. So safe, in fact, that they see "no good
reason to regulate it's use" in any manner whatsoever.
But you didn't need CARB to
tell you that. You probably already knew that. After all, siloxane
is one of the most extensively studied materials in consumer
applications, and has been used for decades as a base
ingredient in many personal care products you drip into your eyes
and rub into your skin on a daily basis. Such as shampoos,
antiperspirants, deodorants and moisturizing creams.
How can I help you?
