The cleaning and restoration of a handbag: another Kate Spade canvas handbag

In direct response to that post, a new client brought in a Kate Spade off-white canvas handbag with a blue print and off-white vinyl trim.

The fact that the blue design was printed onto the off-white canvas meant that there was very poor adhesion of the blue dye to the off-white canvas.

Here's the problem: The handbag required a fairly aggressive hand cleaning given that it was so dirty. On the other hand, the blue dye was "loose", necessitating a more gentle hand cleaning.

In the final analysis, we achieved the desired result: a perfectly clean off-white handbag with the blue print nicely preserved.
