Stuffed animals and soft toys soil rather quickly. Especially if
they've been used as props by a photographic studio specializing in
children's portraits.
This was the case with four Dr. Seuss stuffed toys recently
dropped of at our facility by the owner of one such studio: one
jumbo The Cat In The Hat plus 2 smaller versions, and one jumbo The
Grinch.
Apparently the owner of the studio had come across one of our
prior blog posts dealing with stuffed toys.
During the course of our discussion, she'd mentioned that these
characters were used by her photographic studio as props. This got
me thinking about all the germs, bacteria and viruses that these
stuffed characters had been exposed to over the course of time.
Which, in turn, got me thinking about the
process we use to clean and detail baby strollers.
I told our client that we'd follow the recommended cleaning
process on these stuffed toys (the care label stated "surface clean
only") and that, instead of using an ordinary cleaner, we'd use the
same specialized antimicrobial cleaner we use to clean baby
strollers.
The cleaner in question is a pH neutral, biodegradable cleaner
containing surfactants, citrus and hydrogen peroxide.
It's a combination degreaser, deodorizer (kills odor causing
bacteria), sanitizer (kills 99.99% of common bacteria, including
Staph, Salmonella, Strep and E-coli) and virucide (kills 99.9% of
specified viruses, including Herpes 2, Influenza A2/Japan, HIV-1
and Hepatitis B).
Of course, we could have used an ordinary, household cleaner
like ordinary cleaners. But we're RAVE FabriCARE. And ordinary just
wouldn't cut it. So from now on, we'll be cleaning all stuffed
animals and soft toys using this specialized antimicrobial
cleaner.
The results were spectacular: bright colors and pristinely
clean. Here are some before and after photos of the toys we
cleaned....
