Handbag cleaning: when the manufacturer declines your request to clean your handbag

When your designer handbag needs repair - a broken zipper, missing hardware, unraveling stitching and the like - the manufacturer of the handbag will most likely direct you to their Service Center.

When your designer handbag needs cleaning, however, the manufacturer may be reluctant to help. And for good reason: your expectations may be too high. Stated another way, the manufacturer might believe that you'll be disappointed with the results - irrespective of the degree of improvement achieved.
For example, in October we cleaned and restored a white Chanel leather handbag that was rejected by the Chanel Service Center.
Last week, we cleaned and restored a Gucci GG fabric Jackie handbag with gold leather trim. The handbag had blue dye transfer from a pair of denim jeans on the one side and a rather dirty, ink stained lining.
The handbag was sent to the manufacturer for cleaning but the request to clean was declined. The reason for their decision is understandable: the client has the expectation that the handbag will be returned in "showroom perfect" condition and perfection in the hand cleaning of a handbag can almost never be attained. Rather than "disappoint" the client, the manufacturer elected not to clean the handbag.
The following before and after photos of that Gucci handbag reflect the results that we achieved:

By the way, if you're looking for a handbag cleaning specialist, please remember this: All handbags, purses, wallets and backpacks should BE CLEANED by hand, never BY MACHINE. And, then, only by a cleaner who specializes in these accessories. And, the only way to ensure that the cleaner does, in fact, specialize in these accessories is to make sure that the cleaner has a FULL TIME handbag and purse cleaner ON PREMISES.
RAVE FabriCARE is the only cleaner in Arizona, and one of the very few in the USA, that employs a full time handbag cleaner whose sole job is to hand clean handbags, purses, wallets and backpacks. Unlike other cleaners, we'd never clean by machine and we'd never send your accessories to outside third parties for cleaning. That way we're able to deliver the very best technologically achievable results and return your items, in most cases, in a week and a half to two weeks.
RAVE FabriCARE serves clients throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico through our Nationwide Clean By Mail service. We are, literally, as close as your front door.
